am looking at maybe adding a few more koi to the pond, only small ones as i like to see em grow, ive spotted one, its a tancho, bright red spot on the head and white body, thing is there's a little pink showing under the skin, not much but noticeable, do you think it would grow out in time as its only 6'' atm or should i be looking for perfect white
hope that makes sense

There are always compromises to be made when buying a fish.
With a Tancho Kohaku it’s all about the skin and this needs to be good.
It may be a bruise but then again it may not.
Do you know how long the dealers has had it? There will be loads of fresh young Tosai to choose from come April and my thoughts would be not to take a risk and wait till then.
cheers dave, tbh he aint a dealer as such, he gets a few hundred fry at a time and sells them before gettin his next batch, ive bought from him last year, i got 10 2-3'' fish and a tancho that was around 6'', the tancho looks fantastic, brilliant white but the spot is more of an orange then red, still a good looking fish
they fry seem to have come along ok, maybe not the growth that some of you guys get but im fairly happy with them, there are 2 out of the 10 that havnt really grown much, maybe and inch 1/2 - 2 inch but the others are now about 51/2 - 6 inch, not sure if thats good or not, got them in july
think ill take your advice and see what he has in a few month
