Hi All
Yes the Rabbit is back Just covering the pond a bit I have 2 big airstones in the pond so just thinking of turning the air of in the last chamber of K1 and using it as static what do you all think? or should I leave it alone.
Thanks for your help

I'd leave it aerated, that way the bio die back will go back into the pond and be picked up by the mechanical next pass rather than being left to dissolve in the bottom of the chamber.

Hi Dave
That's a good way to look at it but if I flush every week it shoud'nt build up to much in the bottom of the chamber my main problem is all the fines. I have put wool between the foam in the 3rd as well to see if this will help.

I read that leaving the k1 static and aereating it twice again for 30 mins each was even better than having it constantly aereated. This was a multi chamber system with constant static k1 before it - maybe jap mat chamber too cant remember - anyway the traditionally constant aereation chamber only had those 2 aereation sessions.
The theory was that constant agitation reduced the amount of the k1 that was colonising - knocking off beneficial as well as crud. There was testing that seemed to back this up... wish I could remember where I saw the back and forth on this... anyway, maybe an option but would be interested in others input.
Generally I believe more air the better winter or summer with precaution on inputting it where it can have cooling effect in winter. Only got to feel air pipe to know its warm air going in so that is a winter plus?
