Reputation Level: | hidey holes for the winter? Hi All
This is our first winter with our Koi, although it's probably the Koi's 20th at least! You may already know that we took over this pond from the previous house owners and it's had a complete overhaul, at the bottom of the pond there were 2 sets of concrete blocks balanced on the end one on top of each other with a gap and a patio slab spanning them both which the owners told us the koi hide under during the winter. Boycie took the old pond apart to replace the liner and he felt the construction was very rickety so he just put one block back, there is no way all our Koi will get in under there now.
My question is should we be providing somewhere for them to go and hide? If so does anyone else have any ideas of what to use or is there anything that you could suggest or will they be fine just lurking about the bottom of the pond? It's now about 900mm deep and unheated, not ideal I know but deeper than they've had in the past.
Thanks for your help. |
