Reputation Level: | pond water level dropping Hi All
I filled my new pond up this year and I have found and sealed a few leaks up. I think it is water tight but the water level still drops a little during the week. I think this is probably down to evaporation but I do not have any reference to work to. It would be very helpful to compare with you all. My pond is in full sun light and exposed to the wind. It can drop as much as 2/16" (3mm) in a day but sometime less. Size wise it about 24' by 12'. Hopefully this is normal.

Hang on, you've two different measurements there.
All this "old and new money" can be confusing.
2/16th, i.e. 1/8th is 3.175mms
6mms is .42 inches.
If it's the latter, I'd guess you've still got a small leak.
You will get some evaporation, more so if there's a bit of a breeze as well as it being warm particularly with such a large surface area, but not as much as getting on for half an inch I'd think. I can't tell you for sure as I trickle change my pool, someone else may have a different opinion.

Reputation Level: | I changed the original posting from 6mm to 3mm dodgy conversion! I find it easier to read the inches on the ruler. It doesn't drop the same amount each day so i am hoping its not still leaky. |

If you think you have a leak and you had one before, I'd check "the usual suspects" again. You may think you've fixed them but just a tiny dribble can build up to quite a quantity over 24 hours
Just because the drop varies doesn't mean there isn't a leak. It can depend on the height of the water table below your pool. This can vary quite considerably over a few days, if it drops, the leak may increase and there may come a point if it's higher when no leak will be detected.
If it is a small leak and you can't find it, I wouldn't worry as long as there aren't any damaged drains nearby, such small leaks just leach into the subsoil..
