I thought I knew what I was going to fit to the pond once it's all done. Now I'm just getting confused.
It's going to be about 10' x 8' x 6' deep. 3.5' below ground level and 3' above.
I know it's going to be concrete with blockwork then fibre glassed.
I was thinking of 1 x 4" airated bottom drain and a surface skimmer. I would like to have 1 or 2 underwater returns from the filter to create a little resistance for the koi to swim again and maybe a small simple waterfall.
I was thinking of a Nexus 310 or 300 with a seperate tank for filling after flushing, however I see all this talk about bead filters and RDF (or something) so I really don't know what to do now. I want something easy to maintain and with a relatively small foot print. But then I have no clue what UV, pumps or air pumps I need.
Please help !!!. There seems to be so much information on this forum,it's making me dizzy

hiya mate
i have just built my new pond which is near on the same size as your, before i built it i looked at other ponds and talked about filters. it really can be hard to pick what to go for but having seen 5 ponds with nexus filters on i decided not to go for the nexus because not one of the ponds was clear but saying this i do believe they do a good job with ammonia and nitrite. i went the bead filter route and brought a econo bead 60 filter with sieve. i am very pleased with it as they take less then 5 mins to clean and are alot smaller to fit into a filter bay. bead filters are good for fine but what i have learnt is they take awhile to mature. this is just my own opinion. others will stand by the nexus so its really your cal mate.

Dave is spot on the best thing to do now is to get out and see as many set ups as you can before you go to far down the line.
There are many types of filtration and they all take time to clean/maintain so find out how long and what is involved in doing so as depending how much spare time you have to do this may also have an impact on what set up to go for.
well im in laindon, near basildon if thats any good? ive got showers and multi bays
Bobajob and Timmy are in Dagenham, if you want to see a RDF you will need to travel to Rayleigh to daveJ.
hmm bead filters... whose closer?
