 Germicidal UV Lamps, Life Expectancy?
On my 25 year old old home-made UV, employing the electrics from a recycled fluorescent fitting, a quartz tube and a 15watt germicidal fluorescent tube, the lamps only needed changing annually.
I up-graded to a 36watt UV earlier in the year which uses a four pin lamp.
This lasted just over two months before it failed.
The blacking that I used to get at the ends of the 15watt tube after prolonged use, were in evidence near the pins in the new one.
I've changed the bulb, but now I'm only running it for about eight hours during the daytime.
