Default Friendly Forum

Hi every one.

Tonight i have had a small problem with a member on the forum being upset by another forum member. Having talked to both members it seems that other people have been saying things on other forums and running members down on here. This is not what this forum is about and im sure we as members on here and all being koi keepers dont want to see this happening. Please can we keep other forum stuff to them forums and not bring it onto the Extreme Koi forum. If this keeps happening then who ever starts it will be kicked off and banned for life. Lets keep this forum a friendly one and enjoyable to be on.

Many thanks

Mark

Following Marks comments.
If anyone is found to be causing problems or distress please be warned we will remove you from this forum.

We are not here to disrespect others in any way whatsoever so if you have doubts about our rules please PM myself or the other Moderator's and we will remove your membership from this forum.

On another note i would like to express thanks to some of our recent members who came over after there forum sadly closed down.
It is these kind of members who bring fresh ideas and resolutions to many problems that members feel they have no idea how to deal with.
Once again thanks

Enjoy the forum

Rick

Hi Geoff,

The "General Koi Chat" is the area to post something to get a dialogue going.
If there's something that interests you, or some information you require then just start a topic. You are sure to get some responses.

I've several hobbies apart from Koi.... gardening, saxophones, electric piano, Golf, vinyl jukeboxes etc., and I contribute to and read several message boards.
But it's strange, that compared to the others to which I contribute, this board has "more lurkers than posters." Which is a shame, considering the total membership. The active membership is only just over 1% of the registered members, this bears out my "lurkers" point, as other hobby boards to which I contribute start at around 15%. So many must just come on here for the excellent advice within the sections, or take a look and leave.

What keeps boards alive, is posters rather than readers and no one should be reticent about saying something.
It's possible that some are unintentionally intimidated by those people who post frequently and are very knowledgeable (the latter doesn't include me, though I do post a lot!) but these people are very helpful so it shouldn't be a problem, this board is well monitored and you won't get anyone criticising you for a lack of knowledge.
As for meetings, I used to belong to a Koi society twenty years ago and regularly attended the monthly meetings, but the internet has made such gatherings unnecessary for me, as anything I want to know or pass on I can do from a chair (while I watch the cricket at the moment). But I'm sure there will be some who would like to set up meetings for those who live not far away from each other.

I'll stop bangin' on now.

Oh dear, I can't believe this is happening....such a shame; you're right Mark, it's a friendly place and at the end of the day....it's about our hobby and the Koi....not each other, if you know what I mean!
Keep up the good work mate.

I'm a member of management of Celica-Club UK - Europes No.1 Celica Owners Club and we consider ourselves to be the friendliest club on the forum. I know and understand how much hard work it takes to keep a forum on the straight and narrow.
Good moderation is never seen as it's done before your normal members even know there is an issue.
On any forum you always get a lot of lurkers and only a few active posters. You'll also always get Keyboard warriors who will happily mouth off when sat behind a keyboard. Even in the Koi keeping world. I find using the "Moderation Queue" a very handy tool when quelling an uprising

Sorry guys I don't get it !
Why should we be concerning ourselves with what goes on outside this forum.
The Essex section of the BKKS had it's own forum but it was shut down because a couple of members complained about insulting PMs and emails. Is that what you want to happen to this forum ?
If someone wants to call me a prat on another forum, so be it, I'll live.
If they spoil this site with their insults then I would expect the moderators to intervene.
