Default Checking the quartz tube

Not sure this is in the the right slot but mods feel free to move.

Ok a job that needs doing once a year.

Ive got a TMC 110W U/v but the principle is the same for the 55W unit.

Isolate power.
Isolate water.
Remove rubber connectors, remove lamp connectors
Slide out bulb.
Unscrew compression connectors (figs 1&2)
Remove seals (fig 3&4) and drain water from unit mine held about 7 litres.
GENTLY slide out quartz tube (fig 5).
Examine tube (fig6) Clean as necessary e (i used vinegar and lemon juice) rinse well! refit quartz tube carefully, make sure you dont knock the far end as you guiding it out.
Vaseline seal and compression fitting (fig7)
Refit clean quartz tube and seals and screw up compression fitting gently, no gorilla force required. Turn on water, Test for leaks I push a wad of kitchen towel through with a piece of 1/2" pipe(fig8) Refit new UV bulbs, refit connectors. Job done.

Quartz tubes are pretty fragile so take your time and always worth carrying a spare that you can slip in together with a couple of O seals - You can then clean the old one at leisure . Or make a call to your local friendly Koi dealer to check they have one in stock before you start
