Reputation Level: | Re filling ponds Hi
I'm thinking of draining my pond this weekend and cleaning it out and re filling it, but how long should i leave it before putting my fish back in?
Or is there something I can put in to help speed things up? |

how do you plan to refill your pond ?? lolz sounds a daft question , but are you using a pre filter to fill and do changes ??
if your not , you could add dechlor or chlor-go , though these are not as good as the pre-filters , and the pre filters wont cost you much more on the enitial buy , but will last a lot longer
also if your looking to re boost the filter and get the good bacteria going in the pond its self , i'd recommend microbelift filter booster , gels or autumn prep .
then it will be a case of no food for a few days (5-7) and then a very slow increase in food with regular water tests

Reputation Level: | not sure what you mean by a pre filter fill Steve? was just thinking of using tap water, and wandered how long to wait until i can put the fish back in. I have heard of dechlor before but wanted to make sure I'm doing the right thing!
If I use such a product, how long do you think before putting the fish back in?
Its the first time I am cleaning the pond as when it was first filled it was half tap water and half rain water, and left with the pump and filter running for a week or so before the fish went in.
Much appreciate you help and feedback, Ta |

Reputation Level: | usually when filling a pond , its best to be done through a prefilter , like an HMA filter , to remove chlorine ,heavy metals ect , these are fairly expensive , what you could do is buy the triple prefilters used on RO units , they will do the same job , of getting rid of chlorine and heavy metals , but work out alot cheaper .
as your not using a prefilter , i would recommend a neutralizer of sorts , as you want to lock away the bad stuff .
if you dont have any , put loads of air into the pond for 24hrs , to gas of the chlorine , and you'l be ok to put the fish it .
