Reputation Level: | Nexus 210 or Sieve and bead filter ? In the market for a new filter My Koi have outgrown my old faithful Kockney koi vortex and Multi chamber and its time to upgrade, Which filter do I chose, Really like the look of the new Nexus 210, But heard a few reports that they fall down on solids removal ? Keep going back to the Sieve and bead filter set up, Really good mechanical filtration and loads of biological filtration and a apparently very good at giving the water a very clear polished look ?
What would you suggest I have 2500 Gallons with a 4" Bottom drain.

Reputation Level: | Bakki Shower Correct me if I am wrong.
How would a Bakki shower reduce solids ? I know they are very good at removing nitrate and improving DOC but didn't think they were really efficient at removing Nitrite/Amonia ?

Reputation Level: | no disolved soilds a shower removes this below.
• Iron, salt, and calcium raise GH, and
hence also raise TDS,
• High Nitrates raise TDS.
If this is not the case that they don't remove solids why are many people ,dealers and breeder using them as there only source of filtration on the indoor heavy stocked tanks and ponds.
filter units are stacked in such a way that a channel of air runs between
them, which means that ammonia and nitrogen is gassed off, and also the
oxygen level is maximised before the water hits the next layer of media. All of the water and fish waste through the shower filters.
They consume every bit of waste that passes over them. Water changes are then carried out in a slow and controlled manner in order to keep
the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) level to a minimum.

Reputation Level: | Bakki Shower Sounds good, Another(Cheaper) option to think about definitely, There are so many new filtration technologies available now compared to when I bought my multi bay filter, It can be a bit mind boggling !

Reputation Level: | Why not put a bead filter inline, after your KK?
The Poly Bead are fairly economical, and do just as good a job... |

Reputation Level: | hiya i have just built a pond of your size and i must say when i was looking for my filter i looked at the nexus but was put off by a very good koi outlet when they said they sold 6 bead filters to 1 of the nexus. i have gone this way with a estro sieve and a econo bead 60 filter. i am sure this is the way to go but its once again a matter of choice i think.

Reputation Level: | its easy !! bead over nexus any day of the week !!!
as for actual filtration , ie removal of ammonia, nitrite , and lowering nitrate and doc's , and adding oxygen rich water back into the pond , NOTHING is better than Bakki !!!!
