Default Want to heat my pond. Where do i start?

Guy's
i am looking to heat my pond over winter but know little about how to do it..

Therefore i have a blank sheet of canvas and are looking for direction. Cost of course is a driver and i would prefer to run electric setup so that i don't have to mess with Gas installation etc, however i can be persuaded either way.

gas costs more to set up than eletric

but in the long run cheaper to run.....

i have a 3kw heater on mine not a profi- heater electro are the best. but when we had the snow and all that to keep it running at 12 deg cost me for 24 hrs £5 ouch

ok,
£5 per day does seam little steep to say the least! I take it that was during the extreme winter we had last year?

How much would it cost to set up a gas system and what are the running costs likely to reduce by? Sorry for all the questions but i really dont know where to start. Is there an expert or company that someone could point me in the direction of?

yes it was in the very cold winter.

easy way to work out is find out how much your pay per kw for your eletric
you will need a 4 kw + heater for you pond then work out the hours it will be on bingo you have the running cost

Ok,
at 7.2p per kwh that works out over the £5 per day mark....

Where do i find the costs for an oil or gas solution? I understand that installation is higher but would be interesting to see what the running cost and and how quickly you can break even!

Hi iv looked in to heating the pond using gas and i got my oil boiler man to tell me how would be best and he said to have a system like they have in caravans where you can atatch bottles of gas it would work out about £500 to install but the running cost would be alot cheaper as long as the pond was well insulated and covered during the cold weather its what ill be doing once iv got a permanant pond and own my house

Thats interesting..

Is that because bottled gas is cheaper or the caravan systems are more efficient i wonder?/
