I have a Koi pond with bottom drain and external 3 section filter compartment with a pump in the last section.
Is it necessary to run the pump 24/7 or could I use a timer to reduce this consumption of electricity???????

hi,u need to run pump and filter all year.it ent that dear.and an air pump to put oxygen in pond.

Thanks 4 your reply.It is more expensive than u think, like air pump/ultraviolets /circulation pump = about 250 watts = 6 KW per day = about 1000 KW per year. Retired now and got to watch the pennies.

Yes your filter needs to be on all year round but you can tern your uv off over the late autum and winter as the sun is not so strong and you shouldant suffer with to much alge and durin the winter mounts you could have your air pump on a timer as when the water is colder it hold the oxygen better hope this is of some help to you
