Default New Pond Skimmer Help

Have started building my raised pond. It is smaller than I hoped for but wife pulled plug on larger version. Now stuck with 3000 Litre project but better than nothing. Might not be able to have koi but such is life.

I have fitted a drain that feeds back to seperation chamber in photo below. Was wondering if i can add a second hole in this chamber and run a tube through side of wood to act as a skimmer.

Will this work and will it effect the drain function.

Advice appreciated.

Still to fit chipboard tongue and groove nailed and glued to outside. Then 25mm insulation and then deck flooring. 1mm buytl liner on inside.

I have a pressure filter with UV. This is connected to sump pump on mesh tray inside settlement tank shown in picture.

oh right ..............
i would still run the skimmer on a sperate system or get some 4" pipe fill with stones cap the ends and have a inlet + outlet pump up through then back to pond via waterfall etc
