Reputation Level: | They are good as just a circulating pump on a gravity fed system just to pump back to the pond from the filter, and they are relatively cheap to run, compared to high pressure pumps but no good for running a bead filter or if you want to pump up to a waterfall as they just dont have the muscle to pump to a great head height or run a bead filter as a Badu top pump or other high pressure pump would. Unfortunately thats the price you pay for economy |

Reputation Level: | this is true but this is how they are being used with great results
i can imagine how much pressure you need for a bead filter like the bubblebead top end range they are taller than me
but thats what puts them up there with the nexus 200 - 300 |

To run a Nexus or bay filter they are very good as you dont need so much pressure, not sure how good they would be if you put a venturi on the end though. |

Reputation Level: | I run around 15 of them, great pumps. I have them on Nexus filters and Bakki Showers. Used to have a sequence running a venturi on a old pond with no problems.
They would also be fine running a waterfall, as long as your waterfall is not 8' above the top of your pond.

Reputation Level: | Sequence pumps are circulation pumps rather than pressure pumps so they are not designed to perform as for example a Badu top 6 which delivers 2,200 gallons an hour with a 4 meter head. The equivalent Sequence pump that delivers 2,200 gallons an hour has a 2.4 meter head.
Although a waterfall might not be on the pond you have to also take into account any bends uv's heaters etc the water has to pass through on its way back to the pond. 2,200 gallons an hour maybe enough but this is if its a straight run back to the pond, as soon as the water hits any of these obstacles the water flow will slow down, as will the gallanage an hour returning back to the pond, a high pressure pump will not be as affected due to the water being under more pressure. |

Reputation Level: | I will also be looking to buy a pump for my Nexus 200 and looking at various choices. I was reading that the nexus has a max flow rate of 10,000Lts/Hr
but the two nearest Sequence pumps on offer are the 8000s (9910Lts/Hr)
or the 10000s (11685Lts/Hr) so which one would be better? I will be returning the water straight back to the pond 11 ft away. Or perhaps you guys no of a more suitable pump?
Thanks dan |
