Hi all, I am planning on a filter upgrade. homemade of coarse. I have a load of barrels comeing and copious amounts of K1. I already have a large freestanding vortex and was wondering if I should make it into a big easy and then have a couple of barrels of K1 airated or leave it as a vortex and make a barrel into a easy. What do you think? Also whats the reasoning behind an airated bottom drain, does it help keep the pond floor free of muck. And why the silly prices compared to normal drains.

i will try and find some plans im shore theres some about somewhere for a easy.
the bottom drain question is an easy one if you think your drain is at the bottom (duhhhhhh blonde talking) air rises up thus causing a vacume affect helpping any crap on the bottom towards the sump of it a cheaper way is a i think 12" air ring on the top of the dome but be sure to drill holes so the thing don't lift off with trapped air .
