Hi Tone I would not recommend treating a pond in the hope that You might keep parasites at bay. This will only knock Your filters back again, as they will be trying to start up again as the water temperature increases. The only things I would add is perhaps some filter start, and blanket weed treatment. Then wait and see how Your koi have coped with the winter. If they show signs of parasites ie flashing, excess mucus, clamped fins ect ect. Then You will need to scrape for parasties, identify the problem and treat in accordance. I would say never treat a pond on the thinking that You might have something wrong.

Hi tone we use vikon s to treat our pond all year round as do alot of koi keepers we know, we use it on a weekly basis, one tablet will do 1000 galons. If it is added to your pond in the corect way it will not effect your filter.
it needs to be added by dissolving the tablet into a bucket of pond water and then added to the pond by evenly pouring it a bit at a time arroud the edge of your pond. Virkon s will kill almost all bactiria and has ever been reported to stop the spread of KHV but this has not been confirmed by experts. We hope this is of some help to you.

I like to do a Potassium Permanganate treatment at this time of the year, if there is anything nasty waiting to cause you a problem it will normally sort it, can be used at lower temperatures, always isolate the filter before using and turn the uv off.

do a scrape or have one done and from that you will be able to tell what is going to be your most likely parasitic problem and then be prepared with the right treatment and the right dosage . most important of all is your water quality keep right on top of it untill the temps stabalize dont be afraid to change water anything upto 25% depending on how much the temp of the tap water affects the temp of your pond and dont forget to dechlorinate , chlorine will fry your filter bacteria just aswell as any other chemical you add to a totally organic substace such as bacteria . good luck with the spring . paul
