Hi all.
As you have probably read, my 22" mirror got on top of my netting and lost a few scales. Luckily me seems to be recovering, just looking a bit worse for wear.
I only placed the net on cause we had a visit from a heron. Personally i hate nets as they look s**t and risk damaging your nice fish. I have another koi which likes to dance across the surface late evening and now he has a couple of nastly looking grazes on his nose from the net too.
Just wondered if anyone has any other suggestions for all of us how to deture herons. I have seen things like heron wires, electric fences etc..............Do they work..?
Regards Lee.

A mate of mine has small angled flat metal posts aboot 30 - 45cm high with 3 or 4 small holes drilled in each all around the outside of his pond. He has threaded fishing line through them and this seems to have detered the Heron. Als amother friend has an army camoflause net strung over the pond about 7 feet in the air, he reckons this stops the herons seeing the pond so they don't know its there.
Good luck
Crazy Koi
