Default Re: putting salt in your pond ! why would you do that

you need to add 1/2 oz per gallon , you can buy a 25kg sack very cheap from most dealers or you can add dishwasher salt or cooking salt , never add table salt as it is bad for koi ....adding salt is the best thing to do for sure. ;D ;D ;D Big thumbs up to salt.

Hi, most aquatic retailers will stock Kiln dried salt, it comes in 25 kilo bags and cost around £7 per bag, for 3000 gallons you need to add 1/2 ounce per gallon which totals 1500 ounces. 1500 ounces = 93.75 pounds or 42.6 kilos. Depending on how much water you change would depend on the amount of salt you would add back, as I say, its 1/2 iounce per gallon, there are 16 0nces to a pound and 2.2 pound per kilo.

Hope this helps, btw, Im not saying everyone should use salt, Im just saying it has alot of good points and should be left to the individual to decide, but I will always use it.
