Default x2 small filters over x1 big filter!!!

I have a 1600 gallon pond (I know small) with about 8 large koi and maybe about 8 small koi (I know a lot no more).

I am running a filter box with one inlet , 2 outlet pipes and a oase 8000 pump. Yesterday I decided to purchase the same setup again as it was on sale (or so they say) in order to improve my filtration and circulation of the water as my koi are growing very quickly and obviously creating a whole lot more mess.

The dealer I use is very reliable and helpful suggested I purchase a larger filter with 4 bays rather than the same setup I already have x2 although in theory it amounts to the same thing. I decided for the same set up so I now 2 oase 8000 pumps at both ends of the pond and 2 filter boxes. Finances also helped influence my decision.

Did I make the right decision??? What would you have done?

Hi
I think it is all down to personal choice, I would have done the same as you and gone for two seperate filter systems if one of them fails you always have the other one for a backup also you can still filter the pool while cleaning or performing any maintenence on any one of your filters or pumps.

Have to agree with John Sarge, with two, if one fails or needs cleaning you still have the other one running. I`ve gone the same way, currently running a combi pro 9000 filter with 7000 blagdon pump,I wanted to put another filter in sequence. My local dealer was planning the system for me and he remembered I have a spare 4000 pump so at his suggestion I`m leaving the current system running and having the 4000 pump feeding 2 x 25 litre boxes with 40 litres of kaldness k1. Hope to have this up and running next week. D.
