Yesterday I made a koi feeder out of a plastic jar and a plastic bottle. a shoelace hangs down into the pond with a babies dummy on the end. from the minute it went in they were all having a go at it but didn't manage to pull it enough to dispense the food, after 2 hours I gave up and went inside. when I went out this morning, lo and behold the feeder was empty. sometime during the night they had figured it out. now when i put food in it they are onto it straight away. I have seen 3 different fish successfully pull it enough to drop the food out. the others hang around waiting for the food and greedily mop it all up .
I'm always impressed by "home-made" stuff that works and this is a good example.
Maybe you might want to look at some way you can get it to dispense regular small amounts of food.
Something on the lines of a wheel with multi-compartments that one pull on the teat would turn it one notch and drop some food?
Get that to work and you'd get lots of buyers if you could get someone interested enough to put it into production.
Bet by now the fish have got it sussed out, they ain't as daft as some people think.

That is fantastic! I've learn't two things about Koi...
1. They are not as daft as they look
2. They are always as hungry as they look!! ;0)
I've always said they are very inquisitive, but they've only one question, "Can I eat it?"
