Default UV Filter

I have suffered from green water for ages. 3 weeks ago I installed a Hozelock vorton 27000 UV Clarifier. The water has started to clear a little. Am I being impatient? I have felt the water is passing through the UV too fast so I've slowed the flow down some what. Is this a wise thing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

the vorton you have has max flow of 14000 litres/ 3000 gallons an hour but without knowing what pump you a running at the moment its hard to say , however it is better not to have the water going through too fast as it wont be as effective.
Try doing some gradual water changes to speed it along

Thank you for such a quick reply Pump is again Hozelock I believe a 1400. I pierced a few holes in the pipe to slow the flow.

The pump you have is no where near enough to cause a problem with too much flow in fact you can go a lot higher say 8000 , as for piercing the hose this will only cause more problems for you as not all the water is being filtered .

I have a hozelock 15,000 that i used on my pond that i have just dismantled at weekend and this was going through a yamitsu 15w uv with out any issues of green murcky water, how big is your pond ???

mine was 1,500 mate and to be honest without trying to offend the pump is too small that you are using.
Another member on here recently built a new pond and that is only 750 gallons more than you have and he's running a 10,000 pump and a 15,000 pump with water quality better than a bottle of evian .
your turn around in my opinion is way too slow...
