Default Home made DIY bakki shower

Hello all,

Thought i would post a couple of pictures of my new DIY bakki shower i have just made for £55 (including media- need more lol).

I bought the 4 tray from Wilkinson's for £10.

It has 1 tank connector which is fed from my pump and 2 outlet's. tank connectors and pipes cost £10

The media i have inside:
First tray has 4 bath scrubs (80p each) untangled and layered over he holes. On top of that is a smaller tray just underneath the inlet pipe which hold's some plastic scrubbers (10x50p) to catch any larger debris.

Second tray holds 3 course's of foam from grade 1-3 £20

Third tray holds couple of bags of K1 (need more or something different) £10

Forth tray i will be putting some aerated K1 or something else in but currently have nothing at the moment.

Its only been on a couple of hours and there is already a difference in the water.

Still need to have the spring clean out when it is warmer

Thanks for reading

Ash
p.s. I will get some more pictures of the media when its lighter out side.

I have seen one like this before but I can't think where it was on net somewhere. DO you have a uv running and what size pump are you using and what size pond is it on? would be interested to see water nitrate levels etc after a few weeks. Looks like a good idea

Looking good Ash

Ordered my trays today. Will update you to my progress when I start mine, once my filter extension is completed and after my home made K1 filters are in and working

hiya mate if you really want this to work as a bakki shower you need to buy 1 of 3 things such as alpha grog, crystal bio, bakki house media. i have just brought 100L of crystal bio for £140 to go into my new bakki shower.

1st being bakki house media
2nd cystal bio media
3rd alpha grog

go for alpha grog mate, i believe ogawa is using this abit. it is well cheap and would do the job ok for sure. the only down fall is it heavy stuff but if your trays can take the weight then go for alpha grog. with the crystal bio i have brought its well light and weights nothing but you pay the price. hope this helps and just ask any thing if need advise mate.

oh and welcome to being job less, i been out of work now 6 months and cant find any thing.
