I am about to cut up a old swimming pool insulation floating cover to use in the autumn instead of leaf netting. As no light will penetrate the water for 3 months as it is opaque, will this have any detriment to the fish. The pond is 4 ft deep x 18 ft long x 6 ft wide. I will be able to keep water circulation/oxygen as normal as I will leave my pump/filter on. If light was important, I could cut out a 4 ft Diam.piece of clear polythene and seal it to the pool cover. My main concern is if the fish will suffer due to loss of light.
