Smile Koi or Plants ?

Hi everyone

My first posting, treat me gently !!
I have a huge problem with my Koi eating all the plants. I feed them lettuce, they will eat a complete lettuce in a day !! Is this how it is, I can either have Koi but no plants or plants but no Koi.
Your advice would be appreciated.
THanks

John

hello john
you can have plants if you want a natural pond as long as they are marginals
pot up in the black solid plastic tubs with holes in the bottom stops the koi sucking every thing out (get them in the garden centres )
do not use floating or oxygenating plants or they will be gone in no time
I have used this method for years and the plants regrow every year
or have them all in a veggie filter they cannot reach them there keeps the nitrate down naturally
